Bouncing Snowball Centerpiece

Half fill a carafe or vase with water. Measure.
To each 2 cups of water add:

1/2 Tbsp. Citric acid or 1/2 cup vinegar
1 Tbsp. Baking soda

Color the water if desired using food coloring. Add 8-10 mothballs.
Depending on the size of container you may want to add more or less.

The mothballs will sink, gather bubbles, rise to the surface and sink again.
If you cover the carafe with a lid or foil, they will bounce for up to 3 hours.

When effervescence ceases, add more citric acid and baking soda.
(note - if you are using vinegar, add 1Tbsp. as well as the baking soda).
Repeat until snowballs vanish.

NB: Citric acid can be found at most pharmacies Use only fresh ingredients.
Do not use scented mothballs such as cedar, pine, or lavender etc.
- the additives will destroy the effect.
